The Mexico / Al Qaeda Connection

Last week Glenn Beck had a segment with Michael Scheuer (author of “Marching Toward Hell”) about the too often overlooked problem with our porous southern border. If for a moment we put aside the very real illegal immigration issues of crime, drugs, violence, and disease and their impact on America’s economy and infrastructure, there is a larger concern: national security. Please watch this segment, the meat starts around 1:30:

Some of Scheuer’s comments:

  • “They do nothing and they suppress the information, Glenn. They don’t tell you how many Arabs they catch every month.”
  • “Our political elite does not care about protecting Americans.”
  • “Well, Look at our borders sir. If national defense doesn’t include border control, then national defense is nonsense.”
  • “They want to play games at home, they want to stay in power forever. they want their office, they don’t want to protect the United States. They somehow think that America is eternal and can never be defeated. They are going to be in for a great wake up call, sir.

Whether or not you like Glenn Beck, whether nor not you think Fox News is biased Conservative drivel or real news, you can’t dispute Scheuer’s points. What do we do about it? Contact your representatives and senators. Get border security on their radar again. Don’t even mention illegal immigrants in your message. I’ve been saying for years that a major reason to secure our borders is to secure the future of our country and its citizens. Do we need another 9/11 to make this point to Congress? I pray not.

NOW can we improve border security?

On January 14, 2009, in Politics, by admin

Building a wall between the United States and Mexico has never been about race. But now is the time for us to put this issue in its proper perspective. According to the US Department of Defense, the potential for the political collapse of Mexico is as likely as that of Pakistan.

This is serious.

Coming to America to pursue a better financial life is understandable, but you still need to do so legally.  Just imagine how our border security agents will be taxed if the citizens of Mexico feel the need to run for their lives, literally. Thirty-five people have been killed in Juarez already since the beginning of the year. That’s a murder every eight hours. The Mexican government has sent 2,000 troops to Jaurez to try and maintain control.

Americans need to understand how much illegal immigration costs us in both dollars and in lives. When you consider Medicare, hospital care, education and welfare costs and other categories illegal immigration costs America about $150 billion. Another $200 billion dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens. Thats $350 billion right there… or about half of the average bailout request these days.

Also consider the following (I don’t have the 2007 numbers yet):

  • In 2006, twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens (4,380 in 2006). (source)
  • Thirteen Americans were killed every day by drunk illegal alien drivers (4,745 in 2006) (source)
  • Eight American children were victims of sexual abuse by illegal aliens every day (2,920 in 2006) (source)
  • There are about 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders in the United States who have had an average of four victims each. (source)

This is the impact of illegals on America now. If the population to our south starts seeing street warfare and increased drug cartel action they will flood over the border and exponentially impact the capacities of our already struggling border states and towns. Cartels have expanded their product line from just drugs to human trafficking. The cartels are also better armed than our own agents, and this has been going on for a long time.

Mexico has some serious problems on its hands. I can’t think of a better time than now to finish the wall that has already been funded and militarize our border.

UPDATE – A coworker of mine shared this info after reading this story:

I just returned from El Paso over the holidays to take the kiddos to see their grandparents. We have a friend that works for Johnson and Johnson in Juarez so he commutes there every day. He pretty much gave us the low down on the goings on there:

The drug lords are at war with each other and the border agents. The 700 Juarez police were polygraphed and drug tested. They fired over 450 of them. After that, the street gangs took over and started extorting businesses, Doctors, teachers, etc and they represent the majority of the non-drug related violence over there.

Police are consistently finding mass graves, and there were 9 heads found in the middle of a busy intersection while I was in town.

Where’s the Fence?

On July 8, 2007, in Politics, by admin

So We The People went through a Herculean effort to kill the stupid immigration reform/border security bill a couple of weeks ago. In some sort of bribery effort the Senate claimed that $4.4 Billion in emergency funding was needed to help secure the country. It was the carrot that was supposed to unify the Senate and get the bill passed. Well, the bill is dead, and apparently so is the sense of urgency in Congress. I wonder where that money will go now.

Last time I checked the borders were about as effective as Al Gores’ parenting skills. The border is open, and illegals are increasing their offensive with the understanding that border agents will be reprimanded or jailed if they cause an illegal harm. And now the stakes are higher since these slimeballs are now taking aggressive action with rocks, guns and fire as weapons against our law enforcers. I don’t think I need a dictionary to verify my next comment: any armed attack on our borders is an act of war.

Meanwhile, last week another illegal was shot by a border agent and, as expected, the Mexican government is bitching about it. (source) Here are a few notable comments from the article:

  • Tuesday’s shooting was the second of an illegal immigrant in less than a week by the El Paso Border Patrol. On June 27, an unidentified agent fired at least one shot at a man believed to be a human smuggler after the agent was hit in the head with a rock.
  • “The Border Network for Human Rights, an El Paso advocacy group, condemned the shootings Tuesday. The group said in a statement that the lack of congressional action on immigration did not “justify by any means, the surge of violent and lethal enforcement against immigrants and much less, to jeopardize the safety of border residents.”
  • “Border Patrol spokesman Doug Mosier said, “…the shootings are connected to a 30 percent increase in assaults against agents so far this fiscal year. Rock-related assaults, like the one reported last week, have jumped about 20 percent.”

Agent clubed with a rock. Increasingly violent assaults. Concerned Mexican special interest groups. Stick it up your ass! If the border residents you care about so much would stay on their side of the border we wouldn’t be having this little discussion. Here’s some more stuff that will make your head explode:

  • U.S. officials are in an uproar after the Mexican government approved a bill which will issue global positioning satellite (GPS) tracking devices to emigrants crossing into America illegally. Mexico says it will issue an estimated 200,000 devices in 2007, in an effort to save hundreds of lives as the crossing North grows even deadlier in the hot summer months. (source)
  • Illegal aliens murder 12 Americans daily. Death toll in 2006 far overshadows total U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq, Afghanistan (source)
  • National Guard troops working at an observatory post near the Mexican border were forced to flee after being approached by a group of armed individuals. (source)
  • Illegal alien with 11 prior stays in jail is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl only hours after being released from jail. (source)

Yet the Left insists on finding things wrong with America. Screw them. We’ve got serious problems to deal with here.
